RE: Been dramatically changing how I live my life for health: Here's what's been going on

in #lifelast year

I think we all "have our moment."

My doctor was after me for years to love weight; I have high blood pressure and a family history of heart disease. I offered her platitude assurances and did very little.

I found myself sitting on the edge of the bed and really struggling to put on my socks... because I was too fat.

I suppose we all have our experiences; mine has been that it's not "about losing weight," it's about a lifestyle change. I had to remove myself from the situations that were a root cause of the gradual weight gain. Little stuff. Three beers between the end of work and after dinner "to relax" replaced with only water with the meal.

No more having several bags of chips laying around the kitchen; replaced with cashews or other nuts that actually have nutritional value. And so on, and so forth...

Forget about the scale! It'll just annoy you. It took me about a year to go from 125kg to 110kg just by cutting a few things out of my routine and walking a few steps further than usual. Nothing dramatic. Down another 10kg or in the 18 months since then. Feel different? Yeah, both when I put on socks, and after walking up four flights of stairs!

But that's me; you have to find what works for you!

thanks for the inspiration buddy. I think you are substantially larger than I am as I am right around 95 kg but I also experience limited movement capability like not being able to reach things on the floor when I am sat down because of my gut. It's not a nice feeling.

Cutting the beers out is going to be a big factor for me and it will be necessary. I wish we had those zero calorie waters over here or Crystal Light but I'm in vietnam where everything has as much sugar as possible. How it is that the average Vietnamese person isn't just gigantic is something I don't understand. I have noticed that the kids are showing signs of being chubby at young ages so perhaps the putting sugar in everything phenomenon is relatively new. It will catch up with this new generation.

I'm going to make baby steps though because I know people that tried to do too much at once and just ended up abandoning everything because it was too difficult.
