RE: The story of a box who is fed up with stuff... A minimalist journey

in #life7 years ago

Hi Jon, welcome to Steemit! I took a look at your web site ant it looks really nice and the message is clear. I grew up in an environment full of collectors, hoarders and stuff! I have tried to find a happy medium by only keeping the things that I have actually used in the last year or so. But I can't part with my keepsakes and reminders of the places that I have been and the things that I have done. My memory gets worse as I age, and I have so many good memories that I don't want to loose, and I'm very afraid that if I get rid of all of my stuff I will also lose part of my life that is stored in memory. :)

Hi @deaconlee.
Thanks for your reply! This is exactly why we started this platform. Stuff aren't a "bad" thing, but we believe people need to be consious in what they keep and what not. Like you :)
This is why we are collecting stories about these items: to make them shine in a museum (which is normally reserved for works of art) Would you perhaps be interested in sharing the story of one of these items you find it difficult to part with? That would be awesome!
I saw a wonderful documentary a while ago: "Minimalism". In it, two young guys recommend the benefits of a minimalist way of living. However, they state that "If your collection of books makes you happy, for god's sake keep the books!"

I will think about writing that story. :)

Cool :) if you would feel more comfortable, you could also contact me for that on [email protected] (I could see that just adding it here might feel strange)
