Conversations With Katie, The Girl That Cuts My Hair, May 2018
I came early and Katie was still working on the girl that was ahead of me. There was a chair near her station and I sat there.
Katie said, Hi David. Katie told me that she was running late. I told her that it was OK. I thought is was better for her to be a little late than for me to be late.
So as I waited Katie cut and curled her client's hair. I thought, So that is how it's done.
After she was done with her client I asked if I could take a shot of her station for my next blog. So I was about the take the picture, then I asked if she wanted to be in the picture that will go around the world to different countries.
She said, No. So I told her I still have her in the mirror. So she moved more out of the way, then I shot the picture.
I talked to Katie on how some people pay her. I just like to bring cash, but some people like to pay with a credit card.
With her last client Katie was setting up for a credit card. She put some sliding device in her mini Ipad that her younger sister gave her. That was nice of her younger sister to give Katie her Ipad.
Ok, back to how people pay. It was good that Katie had that Ipad for her clients that want to pay with a credit card, cause now I remember that she forgot her cell phone.
Katie did tell me that she used to put the sliding device on her phone, but if another client tries to call it would mess up the payment system and they have to start again.
So it would make sense to have your cell phone free for clients and have the Ipad dedicated for the payments.
So as Katie was getting her Ipad ready for the payment, the client ahead of me asks if it is OK to pay cash this time. Katie mentioned something about a force of habit.
So back to my conversation with Katie. I told her of a homeless man that wanted some change to passers by. One would say, I don't have any change, I just use my credit card.
Well, the homeless man was tech savvy. He put a sliding device on his phone and asked how much change he wanted to give.
To the guy gave swiped the card on the homeless guys phone with the sliding device and told him how much change he wanted to give him. Well, to me that was an amazing story.
Then we talked about my odd jobs. I told Katie that my neighbor calls me Uber and that I pick him up or drop him off at different places. All in town.
Then Katie says, Hey, in Uber you get paid. So I told her that my neighbor does pay me in cash. Then Katie said, Well, that is good.
Katie seems she was looking out for me, not wanting that my neighbor was taking advantage of me, by getting rides for free.
Then I told her how I have been going on cigarette runs and beer runs for my neighbor also. I have no interest in smoking cigarettes or drinking beer, but if you are going to pay me to go get them I'll go get them.
I told Katie that there was another time when my neighbor wanted to pick up a washer and a dryer. So I drove him to a house close by with my pickup.
So when we got to the place my neighbor paid for the appliances then loaded them in my pickup and tied it down. Then I drove him back to his place and he unloaded them and paid me.
I'll also add that my neighbor repairs washers and dryers.
Then we talked about my blogs. I told her I have almost been with Steemit for about a year now. Katie said, Has it been almost a year already?
I told her, Yes. I also told her I have accumulated 1087 Steem coins in Steem Power. I also let her know that my Steem Power is worth about $4300 at the time.
Katie said she could hardly believe my writings brought in the worth of $4300.
I told her that sometimes by blogs brought in nothing and one time a blog brought in as much as $50 with most of it being somewhere in between.
Well, Katie was just about finished with my hair. She always does a good job. I asked her if she read the last Conversations with Katie blog from March. She told me that she did and she liked it.
I always send her a link to my latest blog about our conversations.
I gave Katie a hug and paid her.
