ON BECOMING ROYALTY

in #life7 years ago

It all started when I saw a poster pasted on my faculty notice board at school. On that poster was information about the upcoming faculty night and the face of business competition(I am in the business faculty at school). In the competition, there was the male and female category. It would be an online competition on Facebook and the contestant in each category with the highest number of votes(Facebook likes) will emerge the winners.

Before this competition, I had been studying Accountancy for 3 years and I had been invisible throughout the time. Invisible in the sense that most people didn't know who I was or what my name was. I wanted to change that so I grabbed the opportunity by competing as the face of my faculty. Winning this competition would bring me to the spotlight. So I bought the form, signed up and became a contestant. I was determined to win.

thanks to @samstickkz for helping me get this back

It wasn't an easy task for me because I was totally out of my comfort zone. I had to meet people I never knew and persuaded them to vote me. I was working day and night, even losing sleep most nights all through the one week the competition lasted. I was working closely with a guy, John, from the male category who later emerged winner. Two heads they say are better than one.

At the end of the competition, I was pronounced winner in the female category with over 3k likes on Facebook. I couldn't have done that alone. I had people who were mentioning their friends on Facebook just to like my picture. People like @samstickkz, Debbie (not yet on steemit) and a bunch of others I can't begin to mention now.

Now my face is known throughout my faculty and not only that, I am a beauty queen and have been inducted into the royal council in my school. Isn't that awesome? It will go down in history that a girl named Joy Udeme was the first female to be the 'Face of Business' in the faculty of Business, University of Uyo. Ain't I proud right now...lol.

The competition taught me to be consistent. I mean I was all up in people's faces throughout the campus just because I had to win. All in all, my determination, consistency and hardwork paid off and I am glad I never gave up... I fought to finish.

I remember when you first met me concerning your contest, I was moved and decided to help. I actually didn't know the cash price was that small 10,000 naira ($20).

After going through all those stress to get over 3k likes. What really moved me was your passion and hardwork towards achieving your goals.

Just keep up the good work dear
