Sweet memories

in #life7 years ago

Life goes on smoothly when there's parental care, guidance, counsel, provision and protection. However not everyone is fortunate to have his/her parents together or alive.
Having lost my parents at a very tender age... Don't know what my mom looks like till date. My big bro is said to look like my dad so I can say I know what dad looks like.
Growing up with stepies/relatives foster parents is not a thing one would wish for.
But I got the best family when my aunt took me in. I call her mummy Ibadan. FB_IMG_1517179894986.jpg
I became the last born and when you're the baby of the house in an African home, you enjoy a lot of things.
I can never forget when my fav uncle Austin would buy fried chicken (I mean the chunky size) and hell ask me to sit with him in front of (my cousin) Joseph and michael (my elder stepbro), knowing how mischievous Lil children can be, I make sure they salivate (longer throat) and they dare not touch me afterwards. Nor those days Michael and Joseph would carry me on their shoulders at intervals to and from school.
Or was it the day I, my step-bro and my cousin Josephine killed ,cooked and ate a neighbour's fat and well-fed chicken without mummy's permission. (how mischievous)
But as the years rolled by, everyone had to leave one after the other, some got married, others left for school, while some got transferred to other states at their places of work. We might not see each other as often as we would have loved to but One thing I know will never leave our hearts are the loving and exciting memories of years back.
We all get to see each other only during large family functions FB_IMG_1517179924471.jpg.
How I love and miss those days
The days I and my step bro would fight other fish.
Those days we'd still go to school after exams because we don't want to run errands.
Those days we go late to church on Sunday's because we were busy watching TV and eating beans
Those days we join hands to beat anyone who insults or wants to fight us.
Those days we'd both rush to the toilet at the same time and end up fighting because no one wants to wait for the other to puu first. (SMH)
Those days we'd save the money we were given for transport and trek to and from school so as to buy plenty soya bean cake (wara)
O sweet sweet memories...
And nowadays when I hear people talking biological parents, I tell myself, I might not have known them but they couldn't have done better than mummy Ibadan and daddy Ibadan. I got the 9craziest, best and most loving elders (cousins) and where ever we all are now, I pray God bless us all.
Amen.
