CHIA'S SEEDS ... Is it just a seed or a superfood?

Hello friends of steemit, today I want to share a little information about a seed, which for its nutritional value seems very important to my health and that we should all include in our diet.

Chia seeds are produced by a herbaceous plant, which is also known as Salvia Hispánica, this plant is native to Mexico and Guatemala; the historical bases reflect that the chia seeds were a fundamental food in the diet of the Aztecs.

This small seed has been recognized, as a superfood or magical food in recent years; taken into account not only for its high nutritional value but also for the ease of incorporation into the diet. Chia seeds can be consumed both whole and ground, unlike other seeds that must first be ground before consumption. These plants are quite resistant to pests, for this reason the use of pesticides is not necessary.

These seeds have a very pleasant taste which can be included in any type of food from salted to desserts. Not only will they be another ingredient, but a very potent source of vitamins and proteins.

What benefits can we obtain from this seed?

In the small chia seed we can find:

  • Omega-3 and 6 which are essential fatty acids that produce a balance in organisms by reducing platelet aggregation thus reducing thrombus formation; They also help strengthen the immune system and prevent diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and asthma.
  • Proteins
  • Vitamins of complex B.
  • Minerals such as: Selenium, iron, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc and potassium.
  • Fiber.
  • Natural antioxidants
  • Vitamin C.

A very important fact is that this seed does not contain gluten, and this makes it perfect to be consumed by people with gluten intolerance, gluten allergy or celiac disorders.

For all the above mentioned benefits are perfect for those who want to lose weight in a healthy way because it contains many nutrients, but digest slowly, produce a feeling of fullness and contain few calories.

But is it really a superfood?

The answer is no, no food is magical, that is, it can not give us all the nutrients and calories we need for day to day. But if it can be said that it is an excellent food and that it should be included in our diet as a food supplement.
If we want to be healthy and strong, it is best to have a healthy, balanced and varied diet, combined with physical exercise and emotional stability. Well, we must take into account that we are holistic beings and we must have a balance in all areas of our lives in order to achieve good health.
