Fate VS Choice
It is a normal human urge to hope for a secure future.
The idea of a future so uncertain is so daunting that we tend to set parameters to get a grip of something so unfamiliar. Some people believe that our future is set, that whatever is upon us, is already mapped-out, written. These people are certain that our future is predestined, and whatever happens is up to fate. Other people, however, believe that we are the creators of our future. They trust that their choices form and forge their paths in life.
I believe that our choices determine our future. For me it seems fair to be able to hope for a future where we know what’s out there. A future from choices is a future secure, identified. One that we get to have control over. You create your future because whatever you do today, determines your tomorrow. Your actions and decisions define what tomorrow holds.
If it were up to fate, then whatever we do today has no relation to our future.
And if my actions today don’t affect my future, what does? If my own choices don’t really forge my path, who’s really living my life? Living a life knowing that whatever is upon is planned out is illogical. You have to act, form yourself a future you would like to have, and not just hope that everything that happens to you is predestined.
Nobody really knows what the future holds nor what determines it. The future is only as exciting as its anonymity. My point is, if there’s nothing we can do about the future, let’s focus on something we have control over- the present. After all, the present is the only reality we all know how to live.
