Garage Owner Changed The Life of a Homeless man

Kriss Wilkes was a homeless man who returned to the West Midlands after living in Blackpool for a while, used to beg for money before meeting the businessman Shezad Zaman, who runs a car wash. Mr. Wilkes had a terrible problem with drugs and this almost spoiled his life.

Every day after work, car wash owner Shezad Zaman used to pass rough sleeper Kriss Wilkes.

Mr Zaman said: 'I saw Kriss on the street right outside the garage when Iused to finish work.

'He would be collecting money by the traffic lights and I said to him, "you're a local lad, you don't need to be doing this, come and work for us instead". He not only offered Mr Wilkes a two-week trial at DAC Car Wash but also provided him with accommodation.

Mr. Wilkes readily accepted this offer and he started a two-week trial and worked hard and showed Mr. Zaman what he was capable of doing. Mr. Zaman found him a room in one of his son's houses. After completing the two-week trial, Mr. Wilkes got the job and ever since he is working with Mr. Zaman. Mr. Wilkes says " 'He got me a room sorted and got me a job. He got me fresh clothes, trainers, shoes and basically I'm living alright and I've sorted myself out and I'm getting there.'

One man helping another man in getting a small regular job. What is the big deal in this news. Most of us will think in this way. But if you ever tasted joblessness in your life, you will not think like that. A homeless man, he would have spent his entire life in street with no roof to sleep under and not enough food to eat. Look at the way one fellow human's small help changed his whole destiny. Their story is inspirational, simple and realistic. I just remembered the quote of Maimonides:

"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."
