How to keep the spark in your relationship

YES a relationship is work !
After a while you might feel that you are getting "bored" of your partner, you don't feel butterfly's when he/she is with you, you are getting annoyed with each other over silly little things, you feel like you are slowly falling "out of love" with this person.

Today I thought I will share some tips with you on how to keep the spark in your relationship. No I'm not a relationship expert but, I do see a lot of the time relationships failing due to lack of work put into it.

So here are just some things I feel are important to have a healthy relationship :

  1. TALK
    After being together for sometime you might feel that you have nothing to talk about anymore but trust me there will always be something to talk about.
    Some examples :
    Ask him/her about their day - after a long day of work/school sometimes people need someone to talk to about all the drama going on at work/school. This does not only maybe help the person de-stress a bit but it also helps you know more about their work/school.
    Talk about your day- Don't wait for them to ask first, just start telling them about how your day was.

  2. HAVE DATE NIGHTS
    Try and plan a date night if not once a week at least once a month. No you don't need to go out to a nice restaurant or even do anything that costs a lot of money.
    Some examples:
    Have a movie night - Get some popcorn, sit back, relax, put the phones away and just watch a movie together.
    Make dinner together - instead of just one making dinner and the other one in front of the tv, make a nice dinner together. This also gives you a good opportunity to talk a bit.
    Have a picnic - Get some snacks, a blanket, maybe even some wine. You can do this in your living room, back yard, park, or even the beach. You can even do it at night, have some candles out and do some star gazing.

  3. TAKE A BREAK
    No I'm not saying break up ! But take some time for yourself. It's healthy to look after yourself. Also missing each other a bit every now and again won't hurt any one, it might just remind you why you love this person.
    Some examples:
    Visit your parents without your partner : Not only does it give you some "alone" time, you are also getting some time to spend with family which is very important !
    Plan a spa weekend for just yourself : this way you can relax and have some real alone time.

  4. DON'T BOTTLE THINGS UP
    If your partner does something to upset you TELL THEM. To keep it all in will just upset you and you might start getting short tempered which can eventually make you burst at something small.

  5. DON'T BRING UP THE PAST
    Don't get upset about things your partner did before you where together. The past is the past whatever your partner did before you where together should not count against them now.

  6. JEALOUSY/TRUST
    Yes, everyone gets jealous and that's normal. But if you fight with your partner when they are just looking into the direction of another girl/guy that's not healthy ! Unless they give you reason to, you need to trust your partner.
