Children's upbringing can be a whole lot of work to do especially when such parent or guardian lack the act of patience and understanding; and even if they do, their undesirable behaviors on a daily basis can make one crazy.

Flogging a child at every slightest provocation can sometimes worsen a child's offensive behavior and can harden their hearts to continue in such acts. Inflicting pain and injury on a child and not letting the child know where he faulted can sometimes be a waste of time and energy.

A child's mistakes should be corrected immediately an unwanted behavior is exhibited. A parent should let a child know why he is being punished, the consequences of such act and the right behavior he/she expects in the future. This process to a very large extent brings an awareness on the supposed "right part" to follow. This is why accumulating punishments to give to a child is a wrong way of correcting because most parents carry over grudges of past sins of a child and punishes them afterwards. When this happens, they child becomes lost on where he/she has erred.

However, beating, flogging or hitting is not the best solution in modifying a child's behavior but through an act of appreciation and gratitude when a child acts and does his task right, correction with love can go a long way. Don't always focus on their weaknesses; a positive statement like "l am proud of you child" can do miracles. Everyone loves it when they are being appreciated for their efforts, appreciate more.

Parents should know who their children's friends are, bring them close and influence them to the best you can. Your children's company play a significant role in their character formation.
A child might still be head bent on making you crazy no matter the love and patience you put in to make them understand; but never give up, be consistent, tolerant, firm and have faith. No child should be a cast away; we don't have bad children but undesirable behaviors which can be modified.
