Really wonderfully written and persuasive argument that college shouldn't be something to do "just because". I love your humorous tone as you discuss what is really a pretty important and pressing issue in the US. The scales are tipping farther and farther toward "not a good investment" when it comes to a college education, with the ever-inflating cost of tuition (and BOOKS! Good LORD! What a racket!) totally unmatched by any increase in employability. (and in fact it is much less likely to get a job just because you have a college degree now than it was in the past. Technical training is, for many/most occupations, at least as valuable from an employability standpoint.
