Publications - Creating an article, key points

First we must understand that we all have special abilities and abilities. Some are more methodical, some more critical and some more artistic. Those are the qualities that you must find and exploit to publish quality articles. Although we must know the story. After reading many articles from users who have more than a year in @steemit I can infer something in common from all their opinions: "Look for your personal style, do not imitate. Naturalness is not easily copied and detected." Recommendation: Look at your steemit account as something long term and you can grow step by step.

Creating an article:

  • Go to your profile page and click on the link that says "Submit a Story" or, in Spanish, "Send a story"

  • There will be the editor of articles:

I explain:
Text box to enter the Title of your article. Remember to make a title that has to do with the article. You can also use strategies to get attention or promote your content
Link to change the type of edit between: Text Editor or raw HTML. I recommend the Text Editor to select different tools that I will explain below **. If you are a programmer or systems analyst because I recommend the raw HTML, where you can unleash your programmable codes
Integrated Text Editor that has tools used in editors such as Microsoft Office, Open Office, notepad, etc. There you can find text formats, lists, typology of letters, http links, etc. I will explain in depth a little later
Text box for the item. Here you edit your article, place images, audio or video files. If you do not know how to introduce images I recommend you to look at an article that I have previously created Click Here. You can also check other methods that many other @steemit users have arranged for you.
Box of Tags or Tags. These tags determine which sections of @steemit your article will show. You can use up to 5 labels. Unlike other social platforms here you only place the label in text format, without # or rare things. You are allowed to place only one hyphen - for one of the tags you want. So you can join two in one. For example for this article I will use these tags: spanish steemit cervantes cervantes-venezuela venezuela As you will see I will place them separated by spaces and only one I can place the script. The first label that you place is the most determinant for the article.
Post or Post button. This button is pressed once you have reviewed your article and corrected errors to publish. That yes: Do it alone after adjusting the type of reward you want for your item. That I will explain in this same article later
Button to clean the text you have in the text box of the article. Be careful to press it in error as you might lose the text. Auto-Save Function: Each time you are writing text for a new article, Steemit saves it for you as a Draft. If you notice the next time you are writing an article, look right at the bottom and when you type text and stop, you will see the message "Draft Saved" that means "Drawn Saved". So if you accidentally close the article window or drop the connection to the internet, the text will be available. If you closed by mistake just click on "Submit a Story" and you will see how the platform has saved all the content of the article in the browser you used last time
Selection box for the type of rewards. Here you must select between:
Default (50% / 50%) - It is by default and from what the article generates in 7 days, 50% is distributed to the author and 50% to the curators. Curators are all users who support an article with their: Vote, Re-esteem or promotion
Power Up 100% - Option that allows you to adjust the rewards of the item only as Steem Power (SP). That gives your account long-term value and greater control over winnings and votes
Decline Payout - Altruistic option for those who wish to give those gains entirely to the platform. Sometimes you can see how @ned and other team members do these types of articles. Note: Under the rewards checkbox you have a "check box" that allows you to select whether you will vote for your item once you post it. This option may seem strange to you but as you go deeper into the platform you will realize the importance of those details
Tool to enlarge or shrink the main text box of the article. Suppose you are reviewing the article before publishing it and you want to expand this box where you have the text, just selected and expand a little more and ready
Tips and Tricks for your articles

  • As you go deeper you'll be fine-tuning details. For example you have noticed the thumbnail views of the articles:

Title of your article
First line of text that you write in your article. You can use this as our dear friend @gargon who in this example used it and it has worked very well. You can use a sticky or descriptive phrase about the article so when other users are "browsing" you attract them to your article
Look how my first line of this article is: "Do you want to know how to post? Tips and Tricks, for new users and curious of #Steemit - Click Here -"

  • In the same order of ideas the first image you place in your article will be the image that appears in the thumbnail view so be creative. In my case, alternate between a collage-like image of what the article is about and sometimes something striking or inspiring. Recommendation: Watch tutorials to edit images online or to do it yourself using image editors such as paint, among others. Idea for programmers: It would be great if we could choose the image to place as a thumbnail view instead of just the first of our post

  • Good writing, Horrors or Mistakes?

source

That image says a lot does not it? Well imagine that thousands of readers can think about reading horrors of writing and spelling mistakes. I suppose the same @cervantes would be ashamed to vote for an article with that magnitude of errors. You need to know what you write and write it well. I recommend using some extra application to check errors and learn as you go deeper.

  • Cite important sources and speak properly of what you know: It is important to build trust from your articles. If you go to a meeting with new friends and future friends and start your dialogue properly speaking, I assure you will be remembered. This is called "Authority" in the jargon of advertising marketing. I speak to you in those terms since it is a valid way to see the platform in terms of "catching the attention of new followers". You already have a lot of knowledge. It is likely that you are a walking encyclopedia and that you know or at least have clear ideas, is what you should express in your articles. Only then can you create an audience. It is valid to use strategies that you can copy from others, but always give your touch, give your style and give free rein to speak and write from the center of your knowledge.

Another important point is to give credit to whoever deserves it. If you look at this article I have tried to place the sources of images that are not my property. That creates web traffic to #steemit and also shows you as someone who knows what he does and gives honor to whom he deserves. Important quotes should be in your articles, lest you end up one day by putting something like:

** Text Editor and its tools:

Explanation:

Letter in accented type or Bold, called type "Bold"
Letter in Italic or Italic typology
Strikethrough
Letters in type Monospace or Monospace. Used by computers of yesteryear and in programming environments. More info here
Unordered or "Unordered" list. You can use it for a list without sequence numbers
Ordered List or "Ordered". A clear example is this list that you are reading that needs a correlation of numerically ordered points
Tool to make a Quote or Appointment. Watch my quote from "Gandhi" below
Assign a web link to a line of text. To use it just select the text with the mouse and click the button, after that a text box appears to place the link and it will look like this LINK
Button to break a previously assigned link. If for example I want to put a link from here and here I want to cut it, just select to where and press Romper
Button to insert a link from an image. If you have doubts check a previous tutorial here
Types of letters. You can assign it to an entire paragraph or simply to a line of text or word

  1. Undo and Redo. Undo and Redo. It serves when you want to delete the last one you have done, for example for possible errors. Also when, in its default, you want to redo the later step
Our reward lies in the effort and not in the result. A total effort is a complete victory. Gandhi
Labels and how to give them an appropriate use

Tags or Tags are a key part of the @steemit platform, so you should investigate and try the ones that work best for you. You can create a new tag just by placing it before publishing but, I recommend you check the existing ones if you want to find more public. For example let's see the most popular:

As you can see they are the most used. I recommend that based on the language in which you write your article you put the first one. But you can use different strategies. To review these tags just click on them, inside the steemit homepage and you will see them on the right (https://steemit.com/). You can also check the statistics in real time that @steemit provides for you by clicking here

How not to use the tags:

Very complicated things such as my first precaution,
Weird or nonsense words. Whenever in doubt consult with other members. Sometimes a bad tag can be the difference between 60 people watching your article and zero people
Place a topic that has no relation to the article just to attract visitors. This can lead to penalties and blockages. Steemit is decentralized and anti-censorship but there are rules to respect so that everything goes to 100%
As if using them:

Defining words:
Language
Topic or item topic
Location or important references
To take into account the calls of attention of other members to modify possible errors in labels
Comments on articles

Since the last update the platform allows us to comment on any article but calls us to "make comments respectful and have to do with the article itself." We can even generate profits and rewards by just commenting. We can vote the comments of others and, in that way, heal comments.

  • Good use to raise the value of an item and earn extra rewards. We can generate greater weight to an article if we have many comments on it and, therefore, greater profits for each person and author. You have noticed many important articles that have many comments:

They are articles that generate healthy controversies and many users have something to say. Obviously we must forge our audience but, that gives weight to an article inside the platform. It gives it weight and value because it is promoting the participation of many users. Sometimes I have intervened with some comments in other articles and those members have rewarded me with Steem just to make a good participation.

How to comment on an article

Simply test with this article, I invite you and I will give you a good vote that will then generate rewards. Just go to the bottom of the article just to the right of the interaction buttons:

Once you click it, the text box will appear as follows:

There write your comment and when you are ready just press "Post" or "Publish". Note: The best comment I give my vote to 100%
Misuse

Like everything else, many people are trying to generate profits from their place even by falling into dishonest tactics. I suppose for many "The end justifies the means". I recommend that you follow the good footsteps of many members without running too much. "Of running alone is tiredness." You should not abuse your comments on your articles. I personally try this with a friend. If you look at my article:

You will see how we have put many comments, some nonsense and almost exhausted my voting power. We did this to know what was happening and how much was earned. I must confess that I will not do it again since my voting power is worth more than winning 2 SDB after commenting on the same article more than 20 times. In the same order of ideas I explain that you can have penalties if you abuse this practice on a regular basis. Instead I suggest a more honest practice and better impact to the platform.

Joint strategy with friends

Personally for a few months I have had an idea, a dream. Bring together at least 2000 brothers and sisters from Venezuela to create a massive support network at @Sememit. That is why a few months ago had created @steemitvenezuela and is a project that should go little by little as more people are adding up. Note: If you are in Venezuela and you have in mind to schedule a large-scale Steemit talk, contact me and with pleasure we can program it to start changing the minds of Venezuelans and together create better ways to invest our time. Write to [email protected]

As I continue to attract more and more people I leave this strategy to build your Club of Friends of Steemit and together support each other. Your articles can be commented on and given more value. That way they guarantee better income and better ways to invest their time.

It has been a pleasure to tell you a little more in depth and keep in tune for the next installment. The basic guide part 3.
