Don't take a single breath for granted - by @voiceofreason
Among all the hustle and bustle, sometimes it gets forgotten exactly how precious life is.
This weekend we got a stern reminder about that.
This past weekend as my family and I attended our local church service we were informed that the Elder Chairman of the church had received some very bad news last week.
He is 73 years old and was having some flu-like symptoms and so he went in to the near by Urgent Care.
They speculated that it could be the flu but perhaps better to take him to the hospital to run some tests to be sure.
Sure enough, those tests revealed that it was not the flu at all.
Instead it was Leukemia.
A type of cancer.
If you are not familiar with leukemia it is a very severe and deadly type of cancer.
After first inspection, doctors informed him that he likely had months left to live.
However, after closer inspection it was revealed that he likely only has days left to live.
As you can imagine this was quite shocking to him as well as his family and friends.
We were also somewhat close to him as well as he has been an important figure in the lives of different family members over the years.

Things can change in an instant.
The crazy thing in all of this is that just a few days ago he seemed perfectly healthy, now, he is literally counting down the last few hours of his life.
Don't take a single breath for granted. We don't know how many we have left.
We all have an expiration date.
Make sure you share it with the ones that you love.
Life is indeed precious and we don't know when it will end. Spend every moment wisely doing things that make you happy and with people you love.
You might just have a little time left, you never know.
I hope he makes use of the little time he had left and I hope you and friends are there to make him happy @brightideas
I'm sorry I was hacked! I have deleted the spam and working on clean up! xo
it's so bad that when an old man has a lot of attention to him he can feel safe

Life is the period between a birth we didn't ask for and a death we didn't want.
We should enjoy every day during this period because we don't know how long will it last.
Thank you for this thoughtful reminder about how precious this life really is. Today while singing with my kids durning the snow day blackout we sang row row row your boat. And I realized the last part...."but life is just a dream" is a reminder to savor each and every moment. Never heard it that way before and wanted to share it with you! Thanks again
