Briggsy's Quotes to Keep You Grounded #5
“Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right.” - Henry Ford
My Take: While I probably wouldn't like this guy in real life had I known him, at least on a personal level - because he was known to generalize and stereotype people without any evidence (highly illogical, to quote Mr. Spock), this quote from Henry Ford is none-the-less absolutely correct. It points out the driving force in our lives that directs our path. Henry Ford doesn't say "whether you know you can, or you know you can't" because that would invoke captain obvious.
Instead, Henry Ford is alluding to the fact that thinking, or believing that you can do something is synonymous with knowing you can, because in the end you are the driving force that directs your path. We can literally do anything in this life if we know we can. For example, I could hop on an airplane to Hollywood, crash the set of a movie and start poking Jim Carey in the nose. What is stopping me?
