A Trip to Charleston SC

My daughter (25 yrs old) needed to see a neuro-ophthalmologist and the one at MUSC was the nearest one that was accepting new patients. It is almost a 4 hour drive. She had reserved a room at Hyatt Place in historic downtown Charlestown, only 7 minutes from Storm Eye Institute at MUSC.

We rode up on Tuesday, checked in, and relaxed a little after the ride. We, being myself, my daughter, her mother-in-law, and my daughter's niece and nephew that they are caring for. We went to get something to eat, returned to the hotel and enjoyed the indoor pool. Well, they enjoyed the pool. Shortly after entering the pool, my feet and legs were cramping. Thanks, MS...cut my pleasure short.

My daughter and I got up and went down to breakfast early. We had to be at the eye clinic early. We were there for a total of 4 hours...for what? Absolutely no answers. My daughter went blind in her left eye in early 2016. Nobody could explain it unless it was because of MS or NMO. She lost the sight in her right eye 2 days after Christmas 2017. About 2 weeks later, the vision in her left eye slowly returned.

This neuro-ophthalmologist tells her he doubts she has MS. He has done retinal mapping and peripheral testing and then he looked into her undialated eyes. He states he has no answers and wants my daughter to fax him the results of the NMO antibody test once she sees her neurologist. He really left us with more questions and no answers.

We returned to the hotel, really frustrated and puzzled. We convinced my daughter not to stress over it for now. We went to lunch. We went to enjoy the pool again that evening. When we went to leave the pool, someone had their phone sitting against the wall recording. If I walked up the steps to get out of the pool, I would have been the star of their video. I asked whoever owns this phone to stop recording. I explained I have do not want to be recorded by anyone. A teen from the other end of the pool retrieves the phone, I thank her. I have crazy ex-husband that is still trying to stalk me, I sure don't want strangers video recording me.

Thursday we went down for breakfast. Then it was time to pack everything up and head south. I enjoyed the trip and would have enjoyed it as a vacation with my daughter. We had fun at the Georgia Welcome Center. I was happy to get home.
