Today, I will be writing on the concept of leadership.
So in the school of leadership and the various definitions given, 4 things stand out and they include:
Person
He is an individual standing in the gap for others.
influence
The impact to be exerted.
followers
Those being influenced.
task
Assignments to be done.
So, I will outline the core concepts of leadership while giving simple yet brief explanations on each.
get competence
As a leader, endeavour to lead in a field where you are good and well skilled. Being a leader doesn't understand that you are not deficient;it just means you are acting on your strength and focusing on an aspect you are good to go so you can lead other right.
Always remember you have some significant traits and attributes that no else possess in life, so activate it. All you need is the will power and desire. Note that no one is useless in life,
a dead clock tells a correct time twice in a day. So have an unending self-study.
be courageous
To be a successful leader, learn to be have courage even when the situation looks impossible to achieve. It is the courage that will help you hold on and see you through at last.
For Nigerians, this vivid example should encourage you. Did you know that?;
President Buhari contested for presidency for 16 years till he finally won in 2015?.
For me, that would simply explain courage. He failed but kept trying and decided to push further. Learn to be courageous.
clarity of purpose
As a leader, it is pertinent to know what you want. Identifying what makes you different from others is to know what to do at the right time. Don't just go doing what everyone else is doing, rather focus on that which you seek to achieve.
If you don't make clear what it is you really seek to achieve as a leader in your chosen field, any method or path will help you get it.
coaching
A leader is an individual who stands to bring out the best in his followers to aid them achieve their purpose in life and not to help them achieve it. A leader is a coach; he is there to give you the necessary guidance for ur success.
Note that he is to guide you through not do your work for you.
character
As a leader, character is a necessity. There is this popular saying that;
bad company corrupts good morals
As a leader, when you are not showing a good character, when your behavior cannot be attested or referenced by others then you are in a wrong path of leadership.
you can lead without character, but you won't be a good follower.
Ensure that People drawn to follow you admist other qualities are encouraged because of your character.
