Some of you may know that my husband had spent a lot of time and effort in seeing if he could get the actor of Hercule Poirot, David Suchet to write some birthday wishes to me. You can find his efforts here.

Well I received a lovely thoughtful letter from him. The excitement was overwhelming and though it has been 2 and a bit months since I received the letter and signed photos, I still am amazed with such a great gift. I must say David Suchet even in writing is a true gentleman.

Anyways I write to say finally I've finished a thank you letter, that I'll send to him.
As you can see I did it in calligraphy. I haven't done calligraphy since I was a little girl, so I spent about two hours or so just practicing the D for dear.

Then when I thought I was doing ok at it I decided to carry on and start writing the letter. I must have been so brain dead as I wrote "dear My David Suchet". I didn't even pick up on it, I showed my husband and said "look I'm finally on the way" his response "why have you said MY David Suchet that's a bit stalkish". Ok woops, I'll have to start again.. So as you can see I practiced the D for a little longer than decided I'll get back to it in the morning.

Morning brought a new fresh set of eyes and a rested hand ready to carry on.
After finally feeling I was getting somewhere, I truly enjoyed writing it all and putting the finished touches together.

If you like writing I would definitly think of taking this skill up.

It is such a beautiful way of writing that I think it would make anyone happy to give it a go.

wow! i didnt know calligraphy still exists! thanks for sharing this with us! i like the post! :)

Thank you @andywong31. I love the true old fashion calligraphy style... Maybe one day I'll be an expert on it😉

hehe with practice and persistence, why not right? :)

A gorgeous piece of work and a lovely sentiment to send a return epistle. The wax seal is something reminiscent of the Poirot times and hopefully something he'll enjoy receiving!

Yes, I do hope he makes the connection to past endeavors - piorot, with not just the calligraphy but the wax seal... The icing on the cake
