Backwoods Basketball Hoop
Check out this old basketball hoop (?) someone cleverly assembled a long time ago. It would not surprise me if this was installed before the road was paved here, but it is lined up pretty nicely. I don't the story but I appreciate the ingenuity.
Every week we travel about 25 miles east to a small town so my son can attend a homeschool class meetup. This town is so small and rural that Google did not map it. Anyway, while the kids do their projects, I take the time to walk around and soak in the local flair. I have discovered there are 3 main parts of this town and each part is about 4-6 blocks. There is one gas station / convenience store, a library, a grange, and a post office. And a small cemetery. There is a coffee shop but it closes at 2pm and it's owned by the same people who run the gas station. Most of the roads do not have a fancy curb like this one.
Perhaps the pole was already there and later someone added the basketball contraption. There's another basketball hoop around the corner but it's more modern, made with plywood and a real hoop. No strings of course. It aint that modern!
