Tradition of Abdya's Goat Gourd (Tradisi Gulai Kambing Abdya) Bilingual

Aceh is a province with the most western tip of Indonesia and is on the island of Sumatra. Famous for its uniqueness, the shari'ah of Islam and the strong customs are the main thing as an Aceh icon known outside. Among them is the custom of doing the feast / party at the wedding or the circumcision of the apostle.

Aceh Barat Daya (Abdya), one of the districts located in the South West of Aceh province, also has its own customs, although not much different from other areas. For example every marriage or circumcision of the apostle has become a custom celebrated with a form of festivity / party / reception. In addition to being a moment of gathering of all relatives, this moment is also used as a thanksgiving in the form of sharing fellow. The host provides food and entertainment to welcome guests, instead the invited guests bring something they can also say. Usually the women guests carry items that have been wrapped in presents, and the men carry items such as rice, eggs, fish, and sugar.

There is also a close relative of the host who brought the goats to be cooked together. Usually these goats are cooked by local youths. He said it tasted better than that cooked by the mothers in the kitchen. Gulai Kambing cuisine of this youth then distributed by the youth chairman evenly to all the guests at the party.

Aceh merupakan provinsi dengan letak paling ujung barat Indonesia dan berada pada Pulau Sumatera. Terkenal dengan berbagai keunikannya, syari’at Islam dan adat istiadat yang kental merupakan hal yang paling utama sebagai ikon Aceh yang dikenal diluar. Diantaranya adalah adat melakukan kenduri/pesta pada saat acara pernikahan atau sunat rasul.

Aceh Barat Daya (Abdya) salah satu kabupaten yang berada dilintas Barat Selatan privinsi Aceh juga mempunyai adat istiadat tersendiri, meski tak jauh berbeda dengan daerah lainnya. Misalnya setiap pernikahan atau sunat rasul sudah menjadi suatu kelaziman dirayakan dengan bentuk kenduri/pesta/resepsi. Selain menjadi momen berkumpulnya seluruh sanak saudara, momen ini juga dimanfaatkan sebagai suatu syukuran dalam bentuk berbagi sesama. Tuan rumah menyediakan makanan serta hiburan untuk menyambut kedatangan tamu, sebaliknya tamu undangan membawa sesuatu yang mampu menurutnya pula. Biasanya para tamu wanita membawa barang-barang yang telah dibungkus kado, dan para pria membawa barang seperti beras, telur, ikan, dan gula.

Ada juga saudara dekat dari tuan rumah yang membawakan kambing untuk dimasak bersama. Biasanya kambing ini dimasak oleh para pemuda setempat. Katanya rasanya lebih enak dibandingkan yang dimasak oleh para ibu-ibu didapur umum. Gulai Kambing masakan pemuda ini kemudian dibagikan oleh ketua pemuda secara merata kepada seluruh tamu yang ada di tempat pesta.
