Stupidity......is it our greatest enemy?

Knowledge is power.

Ignorance is bliss.

Stupidity is our greatest enemy.

All of these are true. Only one of them is truly dangerous.

It's my belief that everyone should be striving to learn more and more each and every day. Knowledge really is power. Not only does it help a person to understand what is happening and why it is happening, it allows us to help others to do the same. Intelligent informed people make much better decisions than those who are not.

Ignorance is bliss. Of that there is no doubt. Living ones life based on what the TV says is much easier than "wasting" time seeking abstract information. Who has the time for that? It's hard enough trying to put food on the table while at the same time dealing with our kids and their issues. Not too mention all the bullshit at work and then we come home to our spouses that never seem to stop bitching at us.....LOL. This applies to both sexes just so you know.

Being ignorant of facts or what is going on is one thing. But being out right stupid is a completely different animal. Ignorance can be solved with some effort. Stupidity is to the bone. In fact it might just be programmed right into the DNA of the stupid person in the same way psychopaths are. You can't cure a psychopath and I am pretty sure its the same for a legitimately stupid person. Stupid people may even seem pretty smart, in the same way psychopaths do. The difference is they don't want to hurt or control others. However their stupid decisions may very well do just that.

You may have noticed there are a LOT of stupid people out there. They are our neighbors, family members, friends, local and federal politicians, doctors etc They are everywhere and they are making stupid decisions each and every day. Some of them, like politicians, are making stupid decisions that effect us all. People elected them thinking they were "smart" but in a short period of time it became apparent they are stupid. You could say it was a stupid idea to elect them lol.

A bigger problem for all of us is the fact these stupid people are breeding. Yes, just like the song. And the kids they are raising are for the most part, stupid. Of course some may overcome their genetics, that's to be expected. But the number of stupid people is increasing dramatically with no end in sight. They will outnumber the rest of us within a few decades, maybe sooner. This is not a good thing.

What can be done about this? Its a serious question and one I don't really have an answer for.

I am reaching out to the Steemit community because overall, its membership doesn't appear "stupid".

Any suggestions?
