Don't Be paralyzed by Your Fears
When I first discovered the phrase "Don't be paralyzed by your fears" I was puzzled. This phrase caught on and became instantly popular, as everyone wanted to know how they could get over their fears. The fact is that all fears can be paralyzing, and some fears are more disabling than others. The more you know about them the better equipped you will be to defeat them.
If you've ever found yourself paralyzed by a fear then you know just how powerful that feeling of helplessness can be. It doesn't matter what the situation is. Your body seems to say "No!"
All of us have experienced this paralyzing fear at one time or another. It's usually when we least expect it. And it can make your life seem impossible. Fear of paralysis is a common phobia for most people, especially those who are paralyzed with fear.
Fortunately, there is hope for those of us who suffer from it. There are many ways to overcome this problem. The key is to understand why we feel the way that we do. Once you understand what is happening you can gain a greater understanding of your body and what it is capable of.
One of the best ways to defeat a fear is to actually confront it. You must confront your fear and tell it to "back off!" Once you've done this your fear of the situation will usually go away. However, you will need to practice overcoming the fear in order to continue to get better at dealing with your paralyzing fear.
Fear is often caused by something that is not as threatening as we perceive it to be. For example, if a fear is that you will get sick, instead of imagining what it would look like if you got sick, you can visualize what it would feel like if you did get sick. This will help you to realize that the fear is not real, but simply perceived. In this way you can begin to overcome the problem and get better at handling your fears.
Another key to overcoming a problem is to focus on the positive. Instead of focusing on negative things or what could go wrong, focus on the positives. Focus on the end result that you want to see. If possible you should write down everything that you want to accomplish in a set amount of time. Visualize it in your mind's eye.
Sometimes it is best to just face your fears head on. Don't try to run away from them. Focusing on your fear and picturing it as if it were about to happen, can help you get over it. When you try to run away from it you will only be running towards it. This will make the problem worse. The best thing to do is just face your fear and confront it.
You can never be too careful. Make sure that you take all precautions to protect yourself from any circumstances that may lead you to believe that what you fear is real. Once you have learned how to defeat your fear, you will then be able to move on and face the rest of your life with confidence.
