CHIRO, the Hero: Our latest rescued kitten.

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Happily playing, he loves moving objects!

He was found close to death 4 days ago (story of his rescue HERE). Eyes covered with dried discharge, could barely open and see. He has a mild flu and patches of dirt and black oil on his fur. He was cold, wet, shivering and hungry. He hid himself under cars to protect himself. Crying for attention – possible crying for help. He lost his mother and possibly siblings as well.

Imagine if we didn’t come to his rescue on time. Imagine if we didn’t make a U-turn back that night to where he was spotted to take him home.

4 days of continuous suffering, his tiny body will eventually give way and it will only a matter of days or time.

When I got him home, I examined his tiny body. Undernourished, weak covered with patches of dirt and black oil.

Slowly I cleaned him with a small towel soaked with warm water. For his eyes, I use cotton pads soaked with salt water (quarter teaspoon of salt mix with a huge glass of water). I did this on daily basis (and after feeding).

On the first night he cried, perhaps confused at a new place. I don’t think he ever felt safe. I had to feed him some wet food and leftover milk temporarily before getting him proper food for his age the next day. When he didn't poo or pee the first two nights, I was worried. I tried stimulating him to defecate and urinate, to no avail. So I continued to observe.

His appetite improved on the 3rd day as we observed that he keeps eating frequently, he finally poops and pee more too (I was mad happy like I just hit a lottery!) – signs that he is not as sickly as we thought.

He loves playing bells and moving objects. He loves to nibble on toes and fingers.

His eyes discharge is slowly getting less but slowly, I am sure he will be better soon.

In the meantime, he continues to be showered with tender loving care from people that cares about his well-being. That cares enough to make a U-turn to rescue him so he gets a chance to live and look forward to see him live a better life someday.
