One of the greatest lessons I was ever taught in studying kenpo as a child and young adult was the value of not engaging. My teachers emphasized that, ultimately, one's true strength lies not in the use of violence to achieve an end, but in knowing how to successfully avoid a situation where violence is necessary. It's a lesson I've carried my entire life.
It's a lesson more people should learn.
