Free Medical Care- not what it's cracked up to be

in #life5 years ago (edited)

g78e2lzbbv.jpg"Free" medical care isn't necessarily synonymous with quality care.

I've been ill for weeks. The person who never gets sick. First there was a cough, then extreme back pain as a result of the cough, and through an evolutionary process; chest pain, rib pain, shortness of breath, dizzy spells, headaches, stabbing ear pain, very weak limbs, blurry vision, swollen eyes, chest mucus, inability to stay awake, fevers and chills, and confusion. I've also endured extra time on the toilet and green tinted stools.

I've been to the hospital twice- there was a 6.5 hr visit and a 4.5 hr visit.

I received the same medical diagnosis both times; an asthma flare up.

I've been taking my inhalers as prescribed with absolutely NO positive change. Every of days I encounter a new symptom.

Something is wrong with me.

I'm that person who doesn't go to the doctor and self meditates with fresh air, Buckleys, and Neocitran. If I go to the hospital, something is seriously wrong.

This is my golden Canadian Heath Care. Neglectful in seeking the easiest and fastest diagnoses.

I've had similar symptoms before and each time proved to be a severe issue- fatal. I'm scared.

I've been unable to get my child to school, I'm too weak to make meals so we've been ordering takeout which is NOT something that is within our budget.

Now, that sad thing is that even if I wanted to obtainbetter healthcare I cannot. This is what we have in Canada- no options. Many of the Doctors that are educated in my city move to the USA for better career opportunities.

If someone is the top tier specialist in their line of work, why would they accept being paid the standard- the same income that a lesser quality doctor in the same field generates?

I'm not saying that we don't have good Doctor's in Canada- but, other places in the world have the numbers.

In addition, there's inventive for those in the US medical field to work harder, be more accurate, keep up to date, and expedite processes.

I'm grateful for the medical care that I have in Canada while also not grateful at all. If anyone tells me that I should be MORE grateful, they can go right to....

Throughout my life, nearly every ailment that I've suffered has gone mis- or undiagnosed, which is in fact more harmfull (in some cases) than no medal care at all. I'm not even going to list the number of times that I've had to self diagnosed and medicate (successfully).

Here I lay lifeless on my sofa as my daughter continues to miss days of school, I literally have to pull myself on the walls to get in the bath, and just sleep all day every day.... It's been twelve days since I've blogged because I've not even had the energy or brain strength to write.

I'm tired again- I'll end abruptly as I fade away.
