I had thought female circumcision to become a long forgotten barbaric practice of the past that doesn't exist in our modern day again. But some days ago I talked with a friend who explained to me that the reason why she doesn't have an orgasm and does not enjoy sex is because her parents had allowed her undergo "genital mutilation", all in a bid to fulfill custom rites of female circumcision when she was a baby.
As sad as this is, it is a true story and I want to raise my voice against this.

Female Genital Mutilation Is Crime
Female genital mutilation occurs during the process of carrying out a female circumcision,it includes intentionally altering and causing injury to the female genitals for nonmedical affiliated reasons.

Any partial or total removal of the external female genitals that is not for any befitting medical reasons is crime against the girl child,and should be fought against.
Female Genital is recognized as a violation of human right against women because it constitute a deep form of discrimination, violated the girls child right to health,security and from torture, it also reflect a extreme form of sexual inequality.

It has no benefit
This activity has no health benefit for the girl child and most procedures used in carrying it out are not safe at all and can cause a lot of harm,which includes
•Severe bleeding(hemorrhage)
•infections
•Severe pain
•Swelling of genital tissues
•Wounds
And if all this is managed at the initial stage, at a later date, the girl/woman may also experience
•Urinary cysts
• Vagina Infection
•Menstrual problems
•Scared tissues and Keliod
•Inability to achieve orgasm
• Inability to enjoy sexual intercourse •Complications in child birth
•Increased risk in death mortality of the female baby.
•And most importantly the psychological effect.

Everything is at risk.
More than 200 million women and girls alive today have had their genitals mutilated in over 30 countries in Africa, and in my country Nigeria, more than a 20 million girls and women had been subjected to female circumcision at childbirth,It is as alarming as that and our people should rise to this ominous act and speak up, for everything is at risk
This practice is mostly prevalent among the west, east, and North Eastern part of Africa,it is also practiced in some countries in the Middle East and Asia. Most people see it as a way of honour and an escape to social exclusion in their community but in essence it is just another escapade of sexual inequality, trying to suppress the woman's feel.
Female Genital mutilation is a global concern, we should all raise our voice against it.
