Audi R8 Review
The new R8, as Audi claims, is the closest thing to a racing car than anything it has attempted to make for the road. This car has shed more than 45kgs compared to the outgoing model. The backbone is a lightweight aluminium space frame, with the B-pillars, central tunnel, and rear firewall made from carbon-fibre composite materials.
Exterior
The design lines of the new generation R8 is all about sharpness when compared to the old car. Every design line, both front and rear has a sharp bend instead of the curves the earlier model sported. This translates into an aggressive appearance, and the wider, lower and a bit shorter dimensions gives it is a stance that lends it a more intense look.
Interior
The highlight of the new R8’s interiors is the huge curved arch of that borders the centre console and door pad around the driver’s seat and steering wheel which has been done to give the looks of being inside a race car. All functions can be operated through the steering wheel remote controls or the latest MMI interface on the centre console.
Engine
An evolved 5.2-litre V10 motor in two states of tune can be found under the V10 and V10 Plus versions, the V10 produces 540bhp and the V10 Plus belts out 610bhp. Audi claims the 0-100kmph is attained in 3.5sec and 3.2sec respectively and these motors can propel the car to 323 and 330kmph. The new R8 comes exclusively with the DL800 seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
