Florida, a 4 Day Work Week, Zombies & toenail fungus
I was just out drinking with my cohorts the other night and they decided to give me each a word or phrase to write about (See Title) and try to bring it all together in some reasonable fashion that made sense. I just stumbled upon the napkin that was saved that night that all was written on. There is a bet here. I'll let you decide. Here goes:
Bringing it all together
I just heard that there is a bacteria in Lake Okeechobee that gives people Alzheimer’s disease. Yikes!
I’m glad I left Florida before it got me.
Imagine the entire State of Florida in a Three Stooges “Curly” moment, wondering “ I’m trying to think, but nothing’s happening”. Frightening isn’t it?
While I was still a member of the Sunshine State, I could not help but witness a state of cognitive disconnect was already firmly in place amongst the populace. The service workers supporting “God’s waiting room” were fully entrenched in a economic slavery system, with overtime being a necessity in order to move beyond the paycheck to paycheck entrapment. Kind of a zombie-light like reality.
It’s hard to be a soul of sunshine and happiness when one is overworked, underpaid, and forced with career choices that have no meaning. We can start to address depression, opioid usage and alcoholism when we can start to admit our failures in creating a functional society.
Everyone wants to live in Florida and some larger corporations know this and milk it for all they have. it’s not just in Florida. The local economies simply imitate division, the cult of lack, depravity and social isolation in their economic mindset that is furthered along by simple ignorance and greed of the recipients.
I sometimes choose to blame Bankers and Lawyers. Everyone hates them anyway. It’s simple that way, but we are all players in this game and share equal finger pointing.
The lure of Florida
After scraping ice off one’s windshield for a decade or more, that annoying weatherman who keeps telling you its 80 degrees in sunny Miami, finally breaks you down. You move. You envision Jimmy Buffet music, cocktails with little umbrellas, a boat, the beach. Then suddenly you dial 1-800-UHAUL and its southward bound into the trap.
“The weather is here, Wish you were beautiful!” A bit of dyslectic alchohol induced Buffet verbiage that probably gets messaged to someone up North within the first weeks of a newcomers peeling skin pain induced & medicated communicado. Yes, let the good times roll. Then comes the pain and the stark nature of economic survival that was somehow missed in high school and college courses. Who remembers TAX PREPERATION 101 anyway? They didn’t tell us that 1/3 of our labor would be taken “for the greater good” of central bankers.
Peanut Farmers & Limited Salesmanship
It was Jimmy Carter who actually had one, and only one really good initiative put forth in his presidency. He actually threw it out there that he would support a four day work week as a rule, for all Federal workers; if Congress would initiate a bill that would implement this standard. He could of issued an Executive Order but did not.
Now I know that not everyone understands that we are all Federal workers if we accept that we are U.S. Citizens. But that’s another rabbit hole from Hades. This four day work week standard, of course never happened. Welcome to the Matrix.
So, a four day work week. Sounds great! How come nothing ever became of this. How come no one has enough time in their lives to actually live their lives, and this seems OK with everyone? Hello?
We can continue on our path of 40,50,60 hour work weeks in order to survive, or we can start asking questions and having discussions on how we can better ourselves. By the way, this is done at your Churches and in your Taverns, as it was in the era of 1776. It is OK to talk about these things. Just don’t be a jerk about it, and please, please, know what you are talking about before you start a conversation. Just because you feel it is right, does not give you intellectual permission to sputter words about in a careless and misdirected manner.
I wish I could have told myself that 30 years ago!
Shouldn't we have moved beyond these pitiful societal survival basics when we have almost mastered the George Jetson flying car? Heck, we even now have “Rosie the robot” who will do more than sweep your floors! Who’s is responsible for this economic suppression anyway?
In all of the conversations I have had, witnessed and casually observed, I can count zero that I have heard discussing how we can better our lives. Now, I mean serious “Out of the Box” conversation material here. Why are we so complacent? Maybe its the Fluoride in our water! Maybe the conspiracy people are on to something. Complacent zombies wondering why they all have toenail fungus, depression and bad relationships.
Oh by the way, they have a new word for death by doctor. The term iatrogenic is defined as "induced in a patient by a physician's activity, manner, or therapy. Used especially to pertain to a complication of treatment." So, there you go! Soak your toenails in some baking soda and stay away from doctors, stay away from Florida swamp water and eat lots of fruit and veggies.
Using Steemit for a deeper and more meaningful conversation
Please comment! Let people know your thoughts on a four day work week and maybe throw some ideas out there for creating a better way to live. Slow down and think about this. Let us all start a meaningful conversation, shall we?
