The Good Shepherd
Jesus says in John 10: 11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
12 The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it.
13 The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep.
14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me.
15 Just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep.
Truly He is the good Shepherd. Here Jesus makes the distinction between a good shepherd and a bad one. A good shepherd is ready to protect his sheep even if he dies fighting for it. A bad shepherd runs away when he sees the woves coming, because he doesn't care for the sheep, he only cares for money.
In John 10: 2-4 Jesus says: 2 The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.
He leads them and the sheeps follow Him because they know His voice. So the shepherd has a job for the sheeps, but the sheeps has a duty aswell and that is to listen to His voice and follow Him.
So in bad times let us remember that we have a good Shepherd who laid down His life for us to ransom us. His name is Jesus and if you didn't know Him as you Lord, just invite Him right now into your life to become your personal Lord and He will cleanse all your sins and make you a child of God.
That's a beautiful story :D
