Fundraising drive launched for heart patients
KARACHI: Critical Mass Karachi (CMK), a community of cyclists, joined doctors and local philanthropists on Sunday in an effort not only to promote the benefits associated with cycling but also for a special fund for adult cardiology patients unattended in the country. 
The formal launch ceremony of the "Ride for a Healthy Heart" unit marked its start with more than 100 members of the CMK cycling from Delawalla in Clifton to the Sports and Rehabilitation Center on the Stadium Road Campus of Aga Khan University.
Dr Aneela Darbar, a member of the executive committee of the Patients’ Behbud Society at AKUH (PBS) and a cycling enthusiast, talked of AKUH’s efforts to make quality cardiac care accessible for underserved and lower-income communities.
“Good health is not equally distributed, as socio-economic status is associated with substantial disparities in health outcomes,” she said.
