Different Lichen and some moss on an ash tree
This time of year is, besides snowdrops, not a time of beautifull plants. But there still is some really lovely stuff out there, which isn't that obvious. Lichen are a good example here. They are covering a lot of surfaces and everybody have seen them some time. Interesting is that Lichen are hundreds of million years old and they may are responsible for a mainpart of the oxygen in the atmosphere. They are a symbiotic organism of algae and fungi. Liches are covering 6 % of the surface of earth and they are an indicator of unpolluted earth. Open your eyes if you're walking through bigger cities. You will see less Lichen on plants and stones than in a small village. Finally they are not as demanding as moss, that's why here's just one tip of moss besides a bigger group of Lichen. I think here's physcia tenella and the moss is probably Orthotrichum affine
