Although not directly tied into your article, one thing that comes to mind is this: when discussing topics of governance and freedom, I think it is important to try to come to a consensus on terms generally, and three terms specifically: equality, justice, and rights. If you and the opposition can’t come to agreement on a definition for these three terms, in my experience the variances will account for the overwhelming majority of your disagreements.
