LGBTQ Discussion

How some people react to the topic of Transgender or the LGBTQ community within itself is Crazy!!!

Myself being born Transgender and suffering with it the majority of my adolescent and teenage life was a somewhat eye opening experience. I am now 5 years on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). I have lived through the trauma, teasing, and bigotry from people who I was close to and people I did not even know personally. You CAN NOT let others decide your fate for you. It is your life and your path to follow.

For those saying that being trans is something unthinkable or they are scared of something new to them because of different actions being taken throughout society, schools, workplaces, etc. Why are you getting nervous, is it because it is something new and you are not used to it? I personally think it is about time that society finally gave a fuck about us other people.

When I refer to the other people I mean the outcasts, the theatre geeks, The people whom I am assuming that you picked on or made fun of at some point in your life. The reasoning behind the "labels" that people give themselves is for them to find a friend and some support to help them through their life.

School to me is meant for education. When you have thought about suicide because you did not "fit in" with everyone else's idea of who you are meant to be. If you go home and your parents refuse to talk about the issue and you have no way of getting reliable information about your struggles. Where else is better to receive help, get counselling, and over-all seek help.

Information is available at the push of a button now, however, back in the 90's and early 2000's, it was difficult to get help on most topics. Being an LGBTQ individual in a small community with a population of anything less that 30,000 people are hard to find others that relate to your issues. So do not get mad at your child's school for being all inclusive with its students. They are just trying to make a better tomorrow. One filled with less hate and discrimination. I wish someone did that back when I was growing up.

gender baiting cancer.

you were not born non-binary. for fuck sakes.

This is one huge propaganda post and more then half of gay and real trans people agree this is noncense made up tumblr crap.

Fweelings do not negate facts and science.

good day.

Thank you for sharing your story.
I was teased and bullied in school and my weirdness came with being a non-assessed Aspie until I was an adult. I have always given everyone I meet 100% benefit of a doubt and allowed THEM to whittle themselves out of my life. That being said, I've never been anything but hetero and being an Aspie, I guess I've always felt like an alien in a human body. Having gone to Westminster Choir College, the majority of my college friends (from the 90s) are gay or trans. I simply never really understood why people made a big deal about someone else's self-identity. It's hard enough living in our own skin - I say live and let live.
Anyway, @transbeauty - welcome to Steemit. I would watch the bathroom door for you. XOXOX

Exactly!!! I wholeheartedly agree. It is very difficult living in our own skin to have someone else come along and try to define our life for us. This post was meant to shed some light on the good that is happening for the Trans community. We have risen above such dark times for our community and I do not want to see it go back in reverse. Thanks for the watch but I have used the "correct" bathroom for 6 or 7 years now. I am female no matter what anyone else says. :)

I'm sorry you were bullied growing up and didn't find acceptance in your family for who you are. I glad you are able to live more freely as yourself now.

There are LGBTQIA+ allies out there, here on Steemit and in the real world as well. From one fellow theater geek to another, we've got your back.
