Elevated sea water temperatures are the main cause of mass bleaching events.

Sixty major episodes of coral bleaching have occurred between 1979 and 1990, with the associated coral mortality affecting reefs in every part of the world. In 2016, the longest coral bleaching event was recorded.

Coral reefs worldwide were lost by 19% and 60% of the remaining reefs are at immediate risk of being lost.

We can contribute and help slow the effects of Global warming that is currently affecting our coral reefs which in return will affect our lives and the generations to come.
