Decentralized Finance (DeFi) makes the concept of cryptographic payments accessible. With the intermediary-free payment system, lower fees and faster transactions, DeFi is really charting a course for the future of finance.

There are over 100 Decentralized Finance (DeFi) projects – each solving one financial problem or the other. There is yet to be a DeFi project focusing on the protection of wildlife. Since most of the other projects are more interested in finance than making social impacts, the Legendary Lion project took it up to fill that lacuna.

It is on this note that I introduce you to the first animal-centric DeFi project called Legendary Lion.

WHY LEGENDARY LION IS INTERESTED IN THE ANIMAL KINGDOM
Legendary Lion is offering a wide range of solutions for the animal kingdom because of the current neglect. The team believes that wildlife plays an important role and the preservation should be prioritized.

More interesting is the fact that the project prioritizes the wellbeing of the lion – the acclaimed King of the Jungle. The reason for the prioritization will be discussed in detail below.

Many animals are currently endangered and there doesn’t seem to be anything done about them.

Thus, the Legendary Lion DeFi project is using this opportunity to look into these existing challenges aiming to find sustainable solutions for the same.

The data drawn up by the team reveals that lions are one of the most endangered animals. If nothing is done to salvage the situation, we might not have any other animal to hold on to the title of King of the Jungle.

From the statistics, the number of surviving lions is reducing by the day. For example, about 200,000 lions were found in Africa about 100 years ago. Today, the figure has dwindled to as low as 21,000. Instead of multiplying, these animals are slowly going extinct.

WHAT CAN LEGENDARY LION DO TO SALVAGE THE SITUATION?
This project is also starting on the right footing, thanks to the dedication to help as many lions as possible to live longer.

The team also claims that Legendary Lion is more of a DeFi project that would do more of charity and care-giving than making promises that might not be achieved.

BEYOND WILDLIFE PRESERVATION: THE BROADER PERSPECTIVE OF THE LEGENDARY LION PROJECT
The Legendary Lion DeFi project also has interests in many niches in the crypto-economy.
Of particular mention is the focus on the Interactive Gaming (iGaming) market where its native crypto token will be used as the primary payment option.

The idea is to make the Legendary Lion token ($LION) token the native payment method across some decentralized gaming sites. The players and punters will get tokenized incentives for using the token to wager on their favorite games.
