Stiffleaf cheesewood with the scientific name pittosporum crassifolium, is a small tree or shrub native to New Zealand.

It is also commonly called karo, and in Māori, kaikaro and kīhihi.

The leaves are dark greenish gray, leathery and hairy underneath.

In spring, it develops clusters of small red-purple flowers, which then become seed pods that split open revealing the sticky seeds.
