Flowering dogwood, whose botanical name is cornus florida, is a species of flowering tree in the dogwood family native to eastern North America and northern Mexico.

It is a deciduous small tree that grows to a height of 10 meters and a trunk circumference of 30 centimeters.

Because of its interesting trunk shape and bark structure, this tree is usually planted to decorate settlements and public places.
