Cedar elm whose scientific name is ulmus crassifolia, is a deciduous tree native to south-central North America, also in northeastern Mexico.

It is also called Texas cedar elm, and is a medium to large deciduous tree growing 24–27 m tall with a rounded crown.

This tree usually grows well on flat valley floors known as cedar elm plains.

The leaves are small, with a sloping base, which distinguishes it from Ulmus serotina which hybridizes readily in the wild.
