Canadian Law School Basics
It seems to me that this would be a helpful post to give context to the journey I am writing about.
In Canada the law school process is a long one.
Before applying to law school you need, at a minimum, a 3 year undergraduate degree and an LSAT score.
See the Canadian Law School Profile page for the high gpa and scores that these schools require.
Once admitted to law school it is a 3 year, grueling process. During which you are subject to a grading curve, and the hiring process for summer jobs, the dreaded OCIs.
After graduating you are required to complete a 10-month articling term which is similar to a co-op program where you are working in the field. It can be very difficult to find an articling placement, but I'm sure that will be another blog post of mine. Stay tuned.
