At about 12pm yesterday, the canopy was filled with people who have come from different locations to pay her the last respect. The Officiating Minister Bro Eze Onyebuchi began the funeral talk, he expound the many scriptures he read to the audience on what the holy book says about the condition of the dead.

Some of the scriptures he read were Ecclisiastics 9:5-10; Psalm 146:3;4; Acts 15:24; Revelation 21:3,4.... All these passages of the Bible teaches that the dead know nothing but are unconcious of nothing at all, that they can not love nor hate so they can not harm the living, that the dead have the prospect of coming back to life in a process called ressurrection. That in the future paradise, they will be no more pain nor death.

After the funeral talk climaxed with songs and prayers, the remains of Mma Esther Mecha was taken to her grave and was laid down the six feet deep grave. It was so sympathetic to lose a mother like her. The children though grown ups, cried their eyes out. Concern relatives, fellow brothers and sisters of their congregations wept with them and comforted them.

It was time to eat and drink what was prepared for the visitors. The catering service providers already at their stand started sharing varieties of food ranging from fried rice, withe rice with stew, egusi soup, afang soup, moi moi and salad.

I joined in sharing the food. The family really spent money for the burial, everything was done decently and by arrangement. Some of the children who live far away and couldn't make it to the burial, so the whole activities was tied to zoom cloud meeting. One could hear them crying during the procession.

Truly her death touched me. After the whole thing, we board our bus and return back to Aba safely. We got home at about 6:20pm.

It is a pity how death is claiming so many lives. But we are not in the dark as to the causes of death and the hope of resurrection that Jehovah God has laid in store for us. Laying a dead person to rest and being in attendance is the greatest respect we can accord them. It reminds us to smoother our relationship with our creator and the fact that one day, we too might be laid to rest. It is our relationship with Jehovah and his son Jesus Christ that will be the only asset that we will hold tight at death. Eccl. 6:5,6,10 and those other scriptures you mentioned are our hope. Thank you for being in attendance
