Fun, Sun and Alton Towers

It’s been a hot sweaty few weeks. The Uk, among other countries has been affected by a heatwave bringing temperatures almost to breaking point - even to the brink of breaking the hottest record in the UK since we began to record temperatures.

As I write this, it has finally begun to rain - as well as provide thunder and lightning. Its been a long time coming and I don’t believe anyone has ever wished for rain as much as the Brits have this week (with exception for Africa etc - before some wit replies with such responses).

It’s friday - so happy weekend to all my readers!

For most of this week, the girlfriend and I have been to Alton Towers...

Home of the some of the best rollercoasters in the world (Nemesis/Smiler/Galactica/Wickerman and more), this theme park has it all.

For me, the best feature was the grounds/towers themselves. I have a pure love for history, architecture and all things old and unique.

Most people visit Alton towers and spend a day visiting. We spent three days. You see... it’s not all about rides and donuts for me...I love to see it all.. and not feel as though I’m on a timer. That was why we chose three days. That was enough. I don’t think I could have handled another day. Never overload on good things... they can turn your thoughts sour and have you wishing for home.

I guess that happened to Kay and I. It was a lovely time but we both agree we’d have gone mad if it wasn’t for getting home late Wednesday night. Admittedly, we’ve spent these past two days recovering.. but then, we did walk miles and miles over the course of those days.
