English Lake District - Place of Internationally Renowned Beauty
This weekend my Girlfriend and I travelled to The Lake District national park which has recently been listed as a world heritage site, joining the Taj Mahal, the Great Wall of China and the Grand Canyon in being given one of the highest accolades on the planet.
It was also the best driving experience I've had outside of a race track. The views and the winding roads were like something out of a Top Gear episode.
Here are some pictures of it's outstanding beauty.
After the incredible drive we arrived at a National Trust car park to climb the mountain in this picture
The view on the way to the top was getting better with every step.
Once at the top there was a lake and a waterfall that runs down to the valley. This is Stickle Tarn.
Then we went to discover Ambleside, home to one of the smallest houses in England, The Bridge House. This 2 roomed house was once home to a family with 6 children!
We finished the day off at the Lake Side cafe. An expensive hotel with a pier to dock your yacht!
It even had an apple garden
I can't recommend The Lake District enough, just try and go when when the weather is good which unfortunately isn't that often.
