Alan Krueger in his "Rockonomics" reflected on the intersections of the music industry and money in terms of creativity and changing business models due to steaming services.
However, I do not recall from the book the discourse on securitization of the industry and music as an asset class.
Apparently, news of launching a futures market linked to music revenues (differentiated by genres, artists and songs) and plans for the ETF realize it.
Exciting forecasts for the revenue growth (compound annual rate of 12% within an ongoing decade), but a puzzling aspect of how that would impact aesthetics of the content and behavioural acceptance of the musicians (and all that jazz).
Thought-provoking.
