A bus named Digant Paribahan lost control and overturned
A bus named Digant Paribahan lost control and overturned in the road at Muhuriganj location of Feni on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway road side. At least 30 people were injured in this incident of road side.
The accident happened on Sunday (June 16) afternoon in highway road. Eight of the injured have been sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital as their condition is very critical.
The injured are Jewel Barua (45), his wife Tikli Barua (40), Amir Ali (35), his wife Mursheda Begum (32), Sohail (20), Jewel (8), Salma (18), Rakib (18), At least 20 people including Helal Mia (26), Saiful (23), Dulal Mia (48), Alea Begum (40), Abdul Karim (30), Kiran (28). Most of them are residents of Habiganj, Madhavpur and Brahmanbaria areas of Sylhet.
According to police and local sources, the Digant Paribahan bus left Chittagong for Sylhet around 10:30 am. At around 12:30 noon, it lost control and overturned on the road before reaching the Muhuriganj bridge. Later, locals rescued the injured and took them to Feni General Hospital.
A passenger named Mursheda Begum said, "Suddenly he woke up after hearing a loud noise. After that, before I knew anything, I saw the bus turning upside down. A part of my right arm is broken. It was cut in different parts of the body.
Another passenger Shahid Mia said, 'The driver was driving the bus at a reckless speed. A bus overturned on the road in Muhuriganj Bridge area of Feni. There were 40-45 passengers of various ages in the car. Everyone is more or less injured.
Dr. Feni General Hospital emergency department. Sujan said that approximately 20-25 people have come to the hospital due to the bus accident. Their bodies were cut and broken in different places. Eight people were referred to Chittagong Medical College Hospital after initial treatment.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Fazilpur Highway Police Station Rashed Khan Chowdhury said, the injured have been rescued and sent to Feni General Hospital. The bus involved in the accident is in police custody. Legal process is ongoing in this regard.
