A bridge has been built over the Kalidas Pahalia river in Feni at a cost of about 9 crore rupees. But the bridge was good work and the comments were of no use as there is no reason why they connecting road. The bridge connects Farhad Nagar of Feni Sadar Upazila and Nawabpur Union of Sonagazi Upazila. However, the residents of the area adjacent to the bridge are suffering due to not getting the desired service.

According to related sources, a contractor named Hawk Traders started the construction of the bridge over the Kalidas Pahalia river on October 12, 2020 with the funding of the local government engineering department at a cost of 8 crore 94 lakh 24 thousand 633 taka. The work of the bridge was supposed to be completed on June 6, 2023, but it was completed this year. But as there is no connecting road, the bridge is useless.

A farmer named Abul Hossain said, 'People of 10-15 villages including our union will get benefits if the bridge is connected by road. We can easily import and export agricultural products. Appeal to the concerned, that the connection road should be made on an urgent basis.

Teacher Zainal Abedin said that there is a fear that a huge amount of government money will be wasted due to the non-construction of bridges suitable for public use. He demanded to make the bridge useful by constructing a fast connecting road.

Abdul Gani, a local, said, "It is necessary to construct the connection road from the eastern part of the bridge to the Kashem driver's house in Feni Sadar Upazila's Dakshin Farhad Nagar village, along with the paved road. Otherwise, the bridge will not be of much use to the public.

When asked, Executive Engineer of Feni Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) Mahmud Al Farooq said, the bridge will be made trafficable as soon as possible.

A disabled youth died after drowning in the water accumulated in a hole in Sundarganj, Gaibandha. The incident took place in Charitabari village of Haripur union of the upazila on Monday (July 1) morning.

The deceased's name is Mohsin Mia (19). He is the son of Anarul Islam of Charitabari village.

Sundarganj police officer-in-charge (OC) Md. Mahbub Alam said about the relatives of the deceased that on Monday morning, the young man was going to his grandmother's house in the neighboring Guchchagram without the knowledge of the family members. On the way, he fell into the water of a hole in the land of a local named Moshiur Rahman and could not get up. Later locals found him floating in the water and rescued him dead.
