제1 금강경 법회가 열린 인연

이와 같이 나는 들었습니다.

부처님께서 기원전 490년전 어느 날, 인도 소재 ‘슈바라스티’의

‘기원정사’라는 사원에서 제자 1250명과 같이 계실 때였습니다.

그때 부처님께서는 아침 식사하실 때가 되었으므로,

제자들과 함께 스님 옷을 반듯하게 입으시고,

음식을 기부 받으실 식기(食器)를 들고,

기원정사를 떠나 슈바라스티 성내로 들어가셨습니다.

성안에 들어서시면서 부터는 아무런 말씀없이

차례로 일곱 집을 다니시며,

수행 중인 스님들께 아침 식사를 기부할 기회를 만들어 주셨습니

다.

그렇게 1250인의 제자는 각기 일곱 집을 모두 방문하시고 기원

정사로 돌아오셨습니다.

그렇게 스님 정장을 하신 채 제자들과 아침 식사를 마치신 뒤,

옷을 일반복으로 갈아입으시고,

식기를 모두 치우신 후,

발을 씻으신 다음,

제자들이 모두 자리에 앉으신 후에,

부처님의 정해진 자리에 앉으셨습니다.

Diamond Sutra}

CH.1 : Why Diamond Sutra Session was held.

In this way I was told.

One day in the year 490 B.C., the Buddha was with 1250

of his disciples in the temple called Jetavana-vihāra near

the city of Shubharasti, Uttar Pradesh Province in India.

Now it was time for the Buddha to have breakfast, so he

dressed himself in his monk's robes with his disciples, he

put on his monk's robes, took the utensils that were to be

donated for food, and went into the temple of Shubharasti.

He left the prayer hall and entered the city of Shubharasti.

From the time He entered the temple, He visited the seven

houses one after another without saying a word.

And he went from house to house, creating opportunities to

donate breakfast to monks in training.

Thus, each of the 1,250 disciples visited all seven houses.

and returned to the prayer hall.

After having breakfast with his disciples, he changed into

his ordinary clothes, cleared away all the dishes, washed

his feet, and sat down with his disciples.

After the disciples were all seated, the Buddha took his

customary seat.
