I have been using Google Translate for many years, to help me to translate my written French to much better written French. It has all of the "accent grave" and "accent circonflexe" and all the difficult French grammar written for me. There are some errors, but I can spot the errors and fix them very easily.

This includes "Zulu" and "Xhosa" which are languages spoken by small African tribes, and of course all of the major and most of the minor European and Asian languages, such as Bengali, Hindi, Finnish, Catalan, German, Yiddish, Latvian, Icelandic, etc.

And if you take a translation from English to German then to Russian and from Russian to Chinese and from Chinese to Korean, you will end up with a still "pretty good" translation.

It is a bit like playing "telephone" ... there are some changes, but all in all, it is an amazing tool.

It was not so good a few years ago, but Google asks us to improve the translations if we can... and many of us do... and so this has helped the translation tool become much better over the years...

And so it has gone from perhaps 90% correct and 10% errors to perhaps 98% correct and 2% error.
