조율과 결정 Coordination and Decision

정상회담 공동취재단이 보내온 수많은 사진 중에서 이 사진은 내 눈을 사로잡았다. 이 역사적인 사진을 보고 욕심이 났다. 나에게 결정권이 없는 것이 안타까웠다. 다행히 사진부장이 고른 여러 장의 표지 후보 중에 이 사진이 있었다. 나는 이 사진에게서 받은 인상을 사진부장에게 설명했다.
잡지의 광고 페이지를 버리고 바깥 면 전체을 한 장의 사진으로 만들면 어떻겠냐고.

Among the many pictures sent from the Korean pool, this picture caught my eyes. I was greedy to see this historical picture. It was a pity that I had no decision. Fortunately, this photo was among the many cover pages selected by the Photo Desk. I told the photo desk the impression I got from this picture.

How about throwing away the magazine's advertising page and making the entire exterior a single photo?

사진부장은 그 의견에 호의를 표하고 편집장에게 전달했다. 의외로 편집장도 사진부의 이 제안을 흔쾌히 받아들였다. 잡지의 뒷면 표지는 광고비가 가장 비싼 면이다. 관리자로서 편집장이 그 돈을 포기하는 결정은 쉽지 않았을 것이다.
내가 아는 이런 표지는 한 국내 시사주간지 중에서 처음 시도한 것이다. 이 파격적인 표지 디자인은 뉴스룸의 유기적인 의견 조율과 과감한 결정으로 나오게 된 것이다.

PhotoDesk agreed with the suggestion and suggested it to the Chief Editor. Unexpectedly, the Chief Editor also readily accepted this proposal from the Department of Photography. The back cover of the magazine is the most expensive side. It is not easy for the Chief Editor to decide to give up the profits as a manager.
As far as I know, this is one of the first news magazines published in Korean.
This unbelievable cover design came out of the newsroom's organic coordination and bold decision.
