War in Koean peninsula ? China' Threat. 한반도에서 전쟁이? 중국 고위직의 위협(영한)

I was surprised to see the Tv news last night. It seems that there were lots of surprising things these days. Senior Chinese officials said that war can take place on the Korean peninsula. He said Korea would be a greatest victim like Iraq, Afghanistan and so on.

It is understandable that China has become nervous due to the THAAD deployement issue, but it is entirely different to make war. THAAD is an air defense missile that the United States plans to deploy in Korea. As North Korea developed nuclear and missiles, the United States and South Korea decided to deploy THAAD anti-missiles in Korea. It is because North Korea's nuclear and missile threats have crossed over to South Korea and the US mainland

China opposed THAAD's radar that could detect their nuclear weapons capabilities. The radar to be deployed in South Korea may break the balance in the nuclear capabilities between the United States and China. If so, the Chinese position is understandable. I also think that it is not wise for Korea to ignore China's opposition and unilaterally set up THAAD.

But the situation has changed over time. China imposed indiscriminate economic pressure on Korea. It was enough for Koreans to scare to visit into China by igniting the negative feelings in China.

The current situation does not seem that China treats THAAD rationally. It looks like that emotions dominate beyond the scope of reason. Relationships between nations have areas of emotions as well as relationships between individuals. However, the recent situation is severe. Now, a lot of Koreans who are cautious about deploying THAAD are responding to China's attitude. Those who opposed it would have turned to favor. I do not know if Korea will listen to Chine when China push and press.

Originally, strong nation, they do not shout. The United States does not make a big voice. They are just going quietly and planning their own plans. China has lost the opportunity to persuade Koreans. Perhaps the situation would have been changed if China persuaded Koreans to calm down and try to understand their position.

Koreans are very emotional people. It is a feeling that the emotional ups and downs are severe. See the recent impeachment of President Park Geun - hye. Since we have waged the Korean War and have expereancedrece Japanese imperialism, Koreans tend to resist strongly against unjustified external pressure. Chinese leaders have failed to understand the heart of Koreans.

It is a huge mistake that China has made it possible for the outbreak of war on the Korean peninsula. The stronger the pressure of China, the stronger the opposition of the Korean people. It is said that China is trying to convince the possibility of a war on the Korean Peninsula that China will control North Korea and cause war on South Korea. I do not know if it is possible.

In the meantime, China was passive in suppressing North Korea's nuclear or missile activities, saying that North Korea did not listen to China. If North Korea does not listen to China, will North Korea hear the Chinese word and start a war on the Korean Peninsula?

China seems to be getting more and more wrong. It is uneasy. Unless the leadership of China, which is responsible for more than 1.5 billion people, is only at that level, the peace in Northeast Asia seems to be a problem in the future.

어제 저녁 뉴스를 보다가 깜짝 놀랐다. 요즘은 깜짝 깜짝 놀랄일이 많은 듯 하다. 중국의 고위직 인사가 한반도에서 전쟁이 일어날 수 있다는 것이다. 그것도 한국이 최대의 피해자가 될 것이란다. 이라크, 아프가니스탄 등등 최근 전쟁으로 피폐해진 나라들을 거명하면서 말이다.

중국이 THAAD 배치문제로 신경이 날카로워진 것은 이해할 수 있으나 전쟁운운하는 것은 전혀 다른 일이다. THAAD란 미국이 한국에 배치하겠다는 대공방어 미사일이다. 북한이 핵과 미사일을 개발하면서 미국과 한국은 THAAD라는 대공미사일을 한국에 배치하기로 한 것이다. 그것은 북한의 핵과 미사일 위협이 한국을 넘어 일본은 물론이고 미국 본토에 다다르게 되었기 때문이다

중국은 THAAD의 레이다가 자신들의 핵무기능력을 탐지할 수 있다고 반대했다. 남한에 설치될 레이다로 인해 미국과 중국의 핵능력에 불균형이 발생할 수 있다는 것이다. 만일 그렇다면 중국입장은 이해를 할 수 있는 법이다. 필자도 중국이 반대를 무시하고 일방적으로 THAAD를 설치하는 것은 현명하지 않다고 생각했던 사람이다.

그런데 시간이 가면서 상황이 변했다. 중국은 한국에 무차별적인 경제적인 압력을 가했다. 중국내의 반한감정에 불을 질러서 한국인들이 중국에 가는 것도 무서워할 정도가 되었다.

지금의 상황은 중국이 합리적인 정책으로 THAAD를 다루는 것처럼 보이지 않는다. 이성의 범위를 넘어 감정이 지배하는 상황이 된 듯하다. 국가간의 관계도 개인간의 관계와 마찬가지로 감정의 영역이 있다. 그러나 최근 보여지는 상황은 정도가 심하다. 이제 THAAD 배치에 신중하던 한국사람들 중 상당수가 중국의 태도에 반발하고 있다. 반대하던 사람들이 찬성으로 돌아간 것이다. 무작정하고 압력을 가하고 힘으로 위세를 부리면 한국이 중국의 말을 들을 것이라 생각하는 것인지 모르겠다.

원래 고수들은 큰소리 치지 않는다. 미국은 목소리 크게 내지 않는다. 그냥 조용하게 차근차근 자신들의 계획을 진행하고 있다. 중국은 한국민들을 설득할 수 있는 기회를 잃어 버렸다. 아마도 중국이 차분하게 한국민들을 설득하고 자신들이 입장을 이해시키려고 했다면 상황은 달라졌을 것이다.

한국민들은 매우 감정적인 사람들이다. 감정의 기복이 심하다는 이야기다. 최근에 박근혜 대통령 탄핵시키는 것을 보라. 한국전쟁을 치루었고 일본의 식민지배를 받아 보았기 때문에 한국 사람들은 외부의 부당한 압력에 대한 강력하게 반발하는 경향이 있다. 중국의 지도부들은 이런 한국민들의 심성을 이해하는데 실패한 것이다.

중국이 한반도에서의 전쟁 발발 가능성을 운운한 것은 상당한 실수이다. 중국의 압력이 강하면 강할수록 한국민들의 반발은 강해질 것이다. 중국이 한반도에서 전쟁 발발 가능성을 운운한 것은 듣기에 따라 중국이 북한을 조종해서 남한에 전쟁을 일으키게 하겠다는 것으로 들린다. 가능한 일일지는 모르겠다.

그동안 중국은 북한이 중국의 말을 듣지 않는다며 북한의 핵이나 미사일 활동을 억제하는데 소극적이었다. 만일 중국말 처럼 북한이 중국의 말을 듣지 않는다면, 북한이 중국말 듣고 한반도에서 전쟁을 일으킬까?

중국은 점점 더 잘못된 길로 가고 있는 것 같다. 그것이 불안하다. 15억이 넘는 대국을 이끌고 있는 중국의 지도부가 그 정도 수준밖에 되지 않는다면 앞으로 동북아의 평화는 요원한 듯하다.
