The North Koreans are very attentive to their personal appearance, and when they appear in public, they are well dressed.

Men usually wear jackets or shirts with grey trousers underneath. Women wear skirts, high heels, go out and wear make-up, and their hair usually sticks up. In North Korea, men in suits can also be seen, and men in suits tend to be wealthy. Our Guide says that sometimes clothes are distributed in North Korea, but shoes are not available for free.

So, in North Korea to see whether a person is rich, not to see through clothes, and more often to look at their shoes. Because shoes need to be bought, and leather shoes are more expensive, ordinary people mostly buy rubber shoes or cloth shoes, rich people will buy leather shoes.

Sometimes, the state also issues shoe vouchers. Shoes are also mainly used to buy cloth shoes, few can be used to buy leather shoes.
