Sweater Project #2 - 2 February 2025

Last time I finished my post with the photo above. I’m truly happy to report that I’ve knitted a lot more since then.

I continued knitting up to where you have to join the V for the neckline, and then after 5 more rows I decided it was good enough to leave the sleeve stitches on hold and just concentrate on the front and back. This coincided with the end of the first 100g cake.

One Issue I hadn’t anticipated was that the first yarn cake had a knot as the photo above shows. Annoyingly this knot happened towards the end of the first 100g but I decided to just ignore it and keep going. I made sure to leave the knot on the wrong side of the garment though.

I then continued knitting and honestly it was tough going : the thick yarn and big needles make the garment quite heavy for me. Instead of attempting to knit the front and back at the same time, I decided to do the front separately and then just sew the side seams. Many knitters prefer knitting in the round because you don’t have to purl so that makes knitting faster. On this occasion I decided to just go for it and take the ‘slow route’. This will be more manageable as the garment grows in size.

The photo above also shows the yarn colours in more detail as well. It’s supposed to be ‘rainbow yarn’ but it sort of reminds me of the seaside with the different shades of blue and the sandy colour in between. This subtle colour is in fact much better than expected.

I’m trying to knit about 5cm a day so hopefully I’ll be finishing this sweater this coming week !
